The L.A. Clippers have spent years trying to move on from the Staples Center—aka home of the L.A. Lakers—and plants their own roots. The team took a huge step forward in that effort with the groundbreaking of their new home in Inglewood.
Located at the intersection of Century Boulevard and Prairie Avenue, Intuit Dome will be able to seat 18,000 fans for the 2024-2025 NBA season, should construction stay on time.
According to Urbanize, the 23-year naming rights agreement includes a commitment from Intuit to provide $1 million over the next three years to continue a program with local school districts that provides financial education to students. The company has also pledged to provide free tax preparation services to low-income services in the surrounding area.
The Clippers organization and owner Steve Ballmer have also agreed to a $100-million community benefits package to develop affordable housing, homeowner and rental assistance and other community projects in Inglewood.
Much like it’s current home at the Staples Center and L.A. Live, the Intuit Dome will be the centerpiece of an entertainment complex, set to feature a a public plaza featuring a large LED screen, a concert stage and basketball courts; a 150-room hotel; 63,000 square feet of retail; and parking for 4,000+ vehicles. Additionally, the Clippers will have a 85,000-square-foot practice and athletic training facility, 25,000-square-foot sports medicine clinic and 71,000 square feet of office space for the Clippers organization.
