With the last of his California properties on the market (at $37.5 million, no less), it’s understandable Elon Musk might need a transitional home. And while Musk alluded to living in a $50,000 home in Texas on Twitter in June, but we just weren’t expecting this…
Business Insider reports that Boxabl has dropped a Casita tiny home in Boca Chica, Texas for a very VIP customer—Musk himself. He is said to live in the Casita, a $49,500 375-square-foot unit. Defiantly a change from the 16,000+ square feet he may be used to in the Bay Area.
Almost all of the Casita’s finishes including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC are completed in the factory before it’s shipped out. Unlike other prefab homes, the Casitas can be folded down from 20 feet to about 8 1/2 feet while being transported on a truck.
Boxabl has a wait list of 47,000 customers, and more than 2,000 customers have already put down a deposit.
