Anecdotally, Southern California may seem as though it’s experiencing a housing shortage, but according to new data from DeedClaim, we don’t even crack the Top 20.
A new report out by the online deed platform highlights other western and southern markets who are, however, feeling the inventory crunch.
Phoenix, Dallas and Austin are experiencing the most significant difference between supply and demand, with Arizona’s largest city by population suffering a shortfall of nearly 4,700 housing units. Of the 149 metro areas surveyed, 24 are currently experiencing a housing shortage, according to DeedClaim.
On the surplus side of things, New York, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta land in the top spots, due in large part to higher cost of living and migration out of the metro areas.
