Retired tennis pro Maria Sharapova reportedly ended 2023 with a big Montecito purchase—philanthropist Ann Lurie’s estate. Property records show Sharapova made the all-cash deal for $11.5 million, a decent deal on the $12.850 million asking price.
Offering six bedrooms and five-and-a-half baths, the home was originally designed by acclaimed Lockwood de Forest. Incorporating tall retractable walls of glass to create a seamless blend of natural outdoor ambiance with spacious indoor comfort, the property features mature Oaks, Redwoods and fruit trees.
The property includes a large one-bedroom detached guest house, outdoor kitchen, infinity pool with ocean views, and a three-car garage.
No stranger to big sales, the president of the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Foundation previously sold her Chicago-area home for a record $12 million in 2017.
