July was a slow sales month in Southern California, according to the latest monthly report out from the California Association of Realtors. While statewide existing-home sales were down 3 percent from June, a bulk of the decline happened across SoCal’s six-county region. In particular, San Bernardino and Los Angeles.
According to CAR, sales were down 24.3 percent in San Bernardino County and 23.7 percent in L.A. County, compared to the month prior. Prices, however, were up slightly in both counties, with median sale prices hitting $485,000 in San Bernardino and $851,540 in L.A.
Riverside and Ventura were the only two counties to register price declines—and both were nominal. Ventura County’s median sale price fell to $920,000, down 0.8 percent from June, while Riverside prices were down 2.1 percent to $615,000.
Neighboring Central Coast hotspot Santa Barbara saw both sales and prices fall. The coastal community’s median sale price in July was $994,470, down 16.9 percent month-over-month. Existing-home sales in the county fell 7.3 percent.
