Existing-home sales may have been up ever-so slightly in California last month, but it certainly wasn’t Southern California helping to prop up the numbers.
According to the California Association of Realtors, the six-county SoCal region saw home sales fall 19.4 percent compared to December 2022. All counties saw double-digit declines with Ventura falling the most from the month prior, down 28.8 percent.
Sales in L.A. declined by 22 percent month-over-month, while Orange County was close behind, down 20.5 percent. Prices, however, were up in the O.C., with the median sale price rising 5.5 percent to $1,194,500.
The median sale price was also up in Riverside County to $585,000, compared to $575,000 a month earlier.
San Diego County saw both sales and prices fall in January. According to CAR, the median sale price was down 2.9 percent to $824,950, while existing-home sales were down 17.9 percent.
