In the market for a home? First you’ve got to find one!
The inventory woes have been plaguing cities large and small for the better part of two years now, with California routinely coming up short with it comes to homes on the market. So Realtor.com set out to find where exactly are the most and least amount of available homes in the traditionally slower winter months…And it’s not looking good in NorCal.
San Jose landed on the top 10 cities with the fewest homes for sale, the only California to receive the dubious honor. According to realtor.com analysis, San Jose has approximately three listings per 1,000 households, behind cities like Rochester, NY and Elkhart, IN, which boast just two listings per 1,000 households. (Though, arguably, San Jose’s median home price is much higher…)
When it comes to cities with the most homes available for sale, the Golden State was nowhere to be found. In fact, the South dominated that list with markets like Myrtle Beach, Jacksonville NC, Destin, FL and Warner Robins, GA offering anywhere between 30-40 listings per 1,000 households.
Iowa City rounded out that top 10 with 20 listings per 1,000 households.
