The redevelopment of Robertson Boulevard in West Hollywood has long been a contentious project in the city, and now the previously approved plans for Robertson Lane are getting a revamp.
According to Commercial Observer, Robertson Lane developer Faring has proposed slashing the 237 hotel rooms and single, nine-story structure to two smaller buildings—one boasting just 109 hotel rooms, the other with 35,700 square feet of office space. Plans for the original design were first approved in June 2018.
The developer reportedly believe there will be more demand for creative work spaces in the coming years, leading to the proposed change in design plans. The project will still maintain the previously planned for nightclub and restaurant spaces.
According to the Commercial Observer, West Hollywood needs the additional office space, as the city’s existing six million square feet in the market is currently 85 to 90 percent leased.
The city’s Planning Commission is expected to consider the revised project later this year or early 2022. Once approved, Robertson Lane is expected to take two years to build.
