Sellers in Northeastern Ohio only have a few more days to preview their soon-to-be-listed homes before a rule change hits the books.
According to the Real Deal, MLS Now member agents and brokers voted to remove “coming soon” preview listings after an increase in homes being purchased sight unseen, effective Aug. 1. Currently, homes could be posted 14 days prior to officially being listed.
However, many homes were reportedly being sold before the listings even became active, sparking a backlash.
Fans of the “coming soon” teasers see them as a marketing tool that helps home sellers build interest in their properties before they’re ready to start showings. And while the change may create a bit of frenzy when a home is now properly available, MLS Now expects the new rule will increase equity in the bidding and buying process.
California Regional MLS allows “coming soon” posts for 21 days.
