The late fashion designer Max Azria and his wife, Lubov Azria’s, Holmby Hills mansion was relisted this week for $85 million. As if the price tag weren’t enough to catch your attention, the asking price is an astonishing $17 million price hike from the prior listing in February 2020.
Coming in at 30,000 square feet, the 1939 home includes 17 bedrooms and 25 bathrooms. It is the largest residence designed by revered architect Paul Williams, who was the first Black architect to become a member of the American Institute of Architects, according to Mansion Global.
The mansion itself is a study in classic design and opulent finishes. From the floor-to-ceiling Swarovski chandelier in the grand dual staircase foyer to the shimmering metallic leaf draping from the living room ceiling, the elevated design elements are a stark contrast to Williams’ quintessential colonial architecture.
Per the listing, there are 60(!) rooms in total—including a Moroccan bathhouse, bar/lounge and home theater—each with intricate trim work. A standout is, of course, the gold ceiling dome library, which overlooks the grounds, which include a Japanese Garden and teahouse, French-style courtyard, pool, a glass-walled tennis court and a greenhouse.
Mansion Global notes that the home has been on and off the market since April 2015, when it was first listed for $85 million.Since then, the asking price has gone as high as $88 million and as low as last winter’s $68 million price tag.
Mick Partridge of Hilton & Hyland holds the listing along with Tomer Fridman of Compass.
