Long Beach City Council has essentially given the green light for a master plan around re-developing the former Boeing C-17 site near the city’s airport.
According to the Long Beach Post News, the Globemaster Corridor Specific Plan includes 437 acres that run along Spring Street from California Avenue to the airport’s main runway west of Redondo Avenue. Visions for the redevelopment include a mix of hotels, retail, restaurants and newer manufacturing businesses to the area.
No residential plans are in included in the Globemaster proposal.
The city council will next take up a procedural vote that will make the plan official, but implementation will be incremental.
