A legend in quirky real estate for more than four decades, William Nicholson originally built what is now known as the Flintstones House with a different inspiration in mind.
Nicholson tells Business Insider that he originally was moved by the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, taking cues from interior domed ceiling to use as the base for his home design. It was the home’s second owner, Florence Fang, who added the famous cartoon elements.
Fang purchased the home for $2.8 million in 2017, adding the Flintstones sculptures, mushrooms and dinosaurs to the property.
