Some people can see an empty space and fill it in their mind. Most just need to see it full in real life. That’s the latest data news coming from the National Association of Realtors, who looked at the impact home staging and video tours had on buyers and sales.
According to NAR’s 2021 Profile of Home Sharing, 31 percent of agents surveys said that home staging greatly decreased the amount of time a home spent on the market. Additionally, both buyer and seller agents said that home staging raised the dollar value offered between 1-5 percent, compared to similar homes on the market that hadn’t been staged.
A smaller fraction of responses, about 18 percent, from sellers’ agents reported home staging increased the dollar value of a residence between 6-10 percent.
These agents also said that visuals themselves are more helpful than ever in relation to buying a house during the COVID pandemic. Some 73 percent of agents surveyed shared that having virtual tours available for their listings was more important in the wake of COVID-19. NAR further shared that 83 percent of buyers’ agents said having photographs for their listings was more important since the beginning of the pandemic, and 74 percent of buyers’ agents said the same about videos of properties.
