It may be a slow start to Spring sales, with March numbers down nationally and locally in California, but that hasn’t stopped the ever-popular neighborhoods in San Francisco and San Jose from moving inventory—and quickly! According to new numbers out from Realtor.com, the two Bay Area cities are among the fastest selling locales for Spring home sales.
Nationwide homes spent a median of 50 days on the market in March. In San Jose, however, the median days on the market was just 22. That’s a second-place tie with Rochester, New York, following Manchester, New Hampshire at 19 days.
Homes for sale in San Francisco lasted just 27 days, landing the city by the bay at the no. 6 spot. Seattle was the only other West Coast city to make the top 10, coming in with a median time on the market of 29 days.
San Francisco and San Jose also held the dubious honor of being home to the most expensive homes among the top 10 fastest cities, with median list prices of $999,000 and $1,481,397, respectively.
