While most industry experts agree that we’re in the midst of a very seller-friendly market, homeowners shouldn’t take buyer’s interest for granted. A polished home is ultimately going to move faster—and likely for more money!
But if you’re limited on time or resources to devote toward a full-on renovation, our Torrence market expert Stephanie Denton says there are three initial projects to prioritize in order to maximize your future home sale.
“If a seller were thinking about a little renovation, we always say start with paint,” Denton said. “A fresh coat of paint, new lighting fixtures and hardware to modernize are the most cost effective and best bang for your buck.”
Denton, who, along with her husband Kris, run the Denton & Denton Group, has helped countless homeowners spruce up their properties, including a number of house flips. And while it may be tempting to want to remodel or renovate an entire home, Denton suggests prioritizing a room to start.
“When prioritizing a room or two to renovate, we would suggest the kitchen,” Denton said. “Sometimes this is too much of an expense, so just adding new countertops, painting existing cabinets and updating kitchen hardware can really make a huge difference!”
One other part of the property would-be sellers needn’t neglect, Denton says, is the front yard, adding, “this is your first impression and best place to shine bright at first look!”
