As a whole, California’s existing-home sales may have slid last month, but the counties that make up Southern California had a decent start of spring when compared to the month prior. According to the California Association of Realtors, the SoCal region as a whole saw sales increase 38.3 percent month-over-month.
Compared to March 2022, however, existing-home sales across the region were down 33.8 percent.
Back to the monthly outlook, all of the six counties in the region saw sales increase by double digits, with Ventura County sales up 55.3 percent compared to February 2023. L.A. and the O.C. were each up some 43 percent.
Looking back to last year, though, all six counties saw sales decline by at least 30 percent.
Price wise, L.A. County was the only one in SoCal to see the median price slide last month, down 1.2 percent. The median price in L.A. last month came in at $718,370.
Interestingly, amid all the up and down that prices have experienced in the past 12 months, the median price in San Bernardino was exactly the same last month as it was one year ago: $475,000.
Orange County once again notched the highest median price in SoCal in March. Up 7.9 percent from the month prior, the median price in the O.C. now sits at $1,250,000.
