With the Great Resignation comes…the Great Job Hunt.
As millions of Americans left jobs last year, many looked for completely career changes over a new role or company. Analysts over at Google got curious where all these workers were heading, so they looked at Google Search trends to get an idea.
Turns out, lots of people are dreaming about real estate!
The most-searched “how to become” job terms from January 2021-January 2022 included:
- Real estate agent
- Flight attendant
- Notary
- Therapist
- Pilot
- Firefighter
- Personal trainer
- Psychiatrist
- Physical therapist
- Electrician
Now, with all the media attention given to the state of this very hot—and very profitable—seller’s market, it’s easy to see why many an interest was piqued by the idea of becoming an agent. But the interest wasn’t universal.
According to Google, large portions of the Northeast, Northern Midwest and Western U.S. were interested in real estate careers, while people in the South and Midwest were interested in becoming a notary. Notably, only two states’ most-searched jobs did not include notary, real estate agent, electrician or pilot: New Mexico, where people were most interested in becoming a flight attendant, and Montana, where people sought information about personal training over any other profession.
