The CDC has issued the new federal eviction moratorium. The ban will be in effect until Oct. 3 and will be targeted to areas of the country experiencing high levels of COVID infections.
The New York Times is reporting that President Joe Biden is expected to announce a new federal eviction moratorium targeting counties with elevated COVID rates. The previous federal eviction ban expired on Saturday.
Partnering with the Centers for Disease Control (who put forth the original eviction moratorium), the White House is reportedly pushing for a 60 day freeze. Per the New York Times, the new ban would cover 90 percent of renters in a qualified country, though no other specifics have been provided at this time.
As we previously reported, California has extended it’s state-wide eviction ban until September 30.
