The S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Indices released today for August 2022 shows that home price gains decelerated across the United States as Summer came to a close.
Covering all nine U.S. census divisions, the Index reported a 13 percent annual gain in August, down from 15.6 percent in July. The 10-City Composite annual increase came in at 12.1 percent, down from 14.9 percent in the previous month.
The 20-City Composite posted a 13.1 percent year-over-year gain, down from 16 percent in the previous month.
Miami, Tampa and Charlotte reported the highest year-over-year gains among the 20 cities in August. Miami led the way with a 28.6 percent year-over-year price increase, followed by Tampa with a 28 percent increase, and Charlotte with a 21.3 percent increase.
All 20 cities reported lower price increases in the year ending August 2022 versus the year ending July 2022.
