San Francisco’s iconic Transamerica Pyramid is set to undergo some extensive revitalization—the largest project in the building’s 50-year history.
According to ArchDaily, luxury real estate developer SHVO has selected Foster + Partners to lead the upgrade, which will also include the renovation and expansion of the adjacent Three Transamerica building.
Foster + Partners work will aim to restore the site’s historic Redwood Park, tying Two Transamerica and Three Transamerica together with a series of ground-level instillations. The offices will reportedly be reimagined as living spaces, emphasizing comfort, hospitality and flexibility, according to ArchDaily.
Additionally, the top floor below the spire will include a private bar and lounge. The entire project is expected to run upwards of $250 million and is set to be completed by the middle of 2023.
Built in 1972, the Transamerica Pyramid remained the tallest building in San Francisco for nearly half a century. It sold for $600 million in 2019.
