The anecdotes have certainly been there all year, but real estate tech firm MoxiWorks is officially predicting 2021 may wrap as one of the strongest sales years in history.
Per revised numbers, MoxiWorks now anticipates higher sales for the months of October and November—594,000 and 556,000 homes respectively—bringing the year-end total to 6.8 million sales. The new report did not include a monthly expectation for December.
Based on the activity inside their products, MoxiWorks revised their October prediction with a 4 percent increase from September. October to November, however, could see a 7 percent decrease, though it will still be 6 percent more homes sold than in November of 2020.
According to Statistica, some 6.5 homes were sold across the U.S. in 2020. Earlier this summer, the market and consumer data company projected 2021 could see 7.1 million home sales, followed by 6.7 million in 2022.
The number of home sales has steadily risen since 2011, with the exception of a slight dip in 2014.
