At the close of last week, Zillow closed its $500 million acquisition of ShowingTime, the Chiaco-based scheduling company who’s app is used by real estate agents to schedule home viewings.
Zillow first announced plans to buy ShowingTime in February, which was then followed by a Federal Trade Commission investigation. According to Inman, a report surfaced late last week that indicates government regulators hadn’t fully signed off on the acquisition. The report, reported by news website The Information, indicates that FTC lawyers had previously given Zillow and ShowingTime the green light to move forward with the deal back in June, however, new FTC Chair Lina Khan reopened the agency’s review of the deal since.
Per a press statement, Zillow says that “the transaction was successfully closed upon meeting customary closing conditions.”
Zillow plans to continue operating ShowingTime as a stand-alone brand, with full app access available to all real estate professionals.
