A SoCal couple had been planning to build their dream home…until the seller’s market became too hot to resist. Now, an unfinished Santa Barbara mansion and it’s accompanying 13 acres are on the market for $33.95 million.
The Wall Street Journal recently profiled the property, which consists of a gutted main house with approved plans to be rebuilt as an Andalusian farmhouse-style residence with 7,500 square feet of living space. The home previously had about 5,000 square feet of stretch.
The listing notes that, once completed, the house would feature five bedrooms, four full and two half baths.
According to the WSJ, there are also approved plans to build a three-bedroom guesthouse, a pool cabana, tennis pavilion, and a 4,000-square-foot car collector’s garage. Construction began in January and will continue until a sale, and it’s noted that the entire project would take another 18 to 24 months to complete as currently planned by Tom Meaney Architects.
Dubbed “Casa Paloma,” the compound boasts nearly 400 feet of oceanfront. Additionally, the surrounding land will include a vegetable garden and animal pens, and organic orchards of avocado and lemon trees.
Dusty Baker of Sotheby’s International Realty and Sally Hanseth of Coldwell Banker hold the listing. You can read more from the Wall Street Journal’s feature by clicking here.
