What effect did a full year of lockdowns and pandemic thinking have on Orange County home prices? The O.C. Register’s Jonathan Lansner dove into the data and discovered 52 of the county’s 83 zip codes saw their median selling price jumped by six figures during the past 12 months.
Additionally, Lansner found that 30 percent of all Orange County zip codes had a median sales price of $1 million or more in May 2021, and those neighborhoods accounted for 37 percent of all homes sold countywide last month.
The county, per the report, had only nine “bargain” zip codes—those with median selling prices at or below 666,667—last month. That figure is down from 11 in April 2021 and drastically down from 26 a year earlier.
