Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani appears to be ready to put down some SoCal roots following the signing of his $700 million contract earlier this year. The pitcher has just closed on a splashy mansion in La Canada Flintridge for $7.850 million—making it the second-largest sale of the year for the city.
Ohtani bought the home from comedian Adam Carolla, who initially listed the home for $8.99 million last Summer. The Midcentury-contemporary five bedroom boasts an impressive 7,327 square feet of living space.
High-end finishes include Pennsylvania Bluestone walls, floor-to-ceiling and clerestory windows, pocket doors and custom cabinetry. The primary bedroom suite offers a full seating area, spa-style soaking tub, generous walk-in closet and a private balcony. The gourmet kitchen boasts top-of-the-line Miele and Thermador appliances, a spacious island and stylish bar.
Out back, there’s an outdoor kitchen and seating areas along with an infinity edge pool complete with hot tub. Plus, an outdoor sport court with a basketball hoop awaits. Additional features include a custom movie theater, an in-home gym and sauna, a four-car garage and smart home technology throughout the home.
Peter Owens with Douglas Elliman held the listing while Jeanne Valvo with Coldwell Banker Realty repped the buyer.
