According to PropertyShark, 70 percent of the country’s most expensive 100 zip codes are in the Golden State. Among the 100 most expensive zip codes in the U.S., prices were on the upswing in even more locations this year than last, with 86 percent of zips experiencing increases.
NorCal’s own Atherton, home to tech giants, took the top spot for the sixth consecutive year. The median price in Atherton is $7.9 million. The five priciest zips in the country posted medians of $5 million or more, with a total of 14 zips surpassing the $4 million threshold.Only 27 zips had medians below $2 million—and those, too, stayed above $1.7 million.
Los Angeles County remains the country’s priciest area with 21 zips. The famed 90210 in Beverly Hills came in at no. 5 with a median home sale price of $5,122,000 in 2022.
Other California zips in the top 10 include Ross (94957) at no. 3; Santa Monica (90402) at no. 7; Santa Barbara (93108) at no. 8; Newport Beach (92067) at no. 9; Rancho Santa Fe (92661) at no. 10.
The sharpest median increase was also in California: 92014 in San Diego County grew 39 percent year-over-year.
