With yesterday’s news that California experienced a 10.4 percent sales slump in October to the lowest sales level since February 2008, we’re now taking a look at the regional numbers. Unfortunately, the news wasn’t any better in NorCal.
According to the California Association of Realtors, the Bay Area posted a monthly sales decline of 13.7 percent in October. Napa County saw the largest monthly dip at 30.3 percent, followed by Solano and San Mateo.
Existing-home sale prices were up and down across the region, where San Francisco’s median price jumped 2.6 percent to $1,692,500. San Mateo’s median prices also up 2 percent to $1,900,000, while Napa prices fell 1.2 percent to $975,000.
Sacramento’s existing-home sales slumped 19.2 percent month-to-month, while prices dipped 1.4 percent to $512,500. Sales in neighboring Placer County fell 8.5 percent as prices remained flat compared to September.
