New resources to combat L.A.’s growing unhoused population are in the works with a recent vote by the county supervisors. The governing body has approved the release of $41.6 million in bond funds to developer Century Housing Corporation, who will rehab existing buildings on the VA campus into supportive housing.
Buildings 156 and 157 will be transformed into 112 homes reserved for formerly homeless veterans. The move will create 96 studio units and 14 one-bedroom units in the two historic buildings. The units will be reserved for households earning between 30 and 50 percent of the area median income level.
According to Urbanize, more than 1,200 homes are slated to be built on the campus, including a 73-unit apartment building.
