The famed Joshua Tree home dubbed the Invisible House is going from luxury rental property to the open market. The innovative residence and its accompanying 67.5 acres are being offered at $18 million.
Designed by film producer, Chris Hanley, and Frank Gehry collaborator, Tomas Osinski, the Invisible House’s mirrored glass exterior masks itself in the rocky, desert landscape. Inside, the home offers three bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths across 5,470 square feet of living space.
There is, of course, also the 100-foot, solar-heated indoor swimming pool that runs along the west wall, while a large, 224 square foot white wall at the end of the pool is designed for screening films or projecting photographs. Completed in 2019, the home also includes a world-class chef’s kitchen with dual ovens, separate refrigerator and freezer, storage, gleaming white marble surfaces, Boffi fixtures, and Miele, Sub Zero, and Wolf appliances.
The living area features modern Flos lighting, connected to an entire wall of sliding glass doors all opening to the landscape. The primary suite offers a private sanctuary and includes a resort-inspired bath with soaking tub, floating vanities and rain shower.
Aaron Kirman and Matt Adamo of Christie’s hold the listing.
