On the market for the first time in more than 70 years, the home that Seuss built could soon be yours…
Ted Geisel’s, aka Dr. Seuss, longtime San Diego home has been listed at $18,995,000—available as four sites or broken down independently of individual sale. Totaling more than four acres, the property is said to boast some of the most spectacular 270-degree ocean, coastline and mountain views in Southern California.
Featuring four bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths across more than 5,000 square feet of living space. According to the city of San Diego, Geisel and his first wife, Helen, built the home around an old observation tower on Encelia Drive in 1948. Geisel remarried and remained in the home until his death in 1991.
The property was gifted to the university in 2019 and proceeds from the sale with go into a newly created Geisel Fund in the UC San Diego Foundation, according to NBC San Diego.
Sales for the individual parcels range from $3,995,000-$11,995,000. Jason Barry and Ryan McGovern of Barry Estates hold the listing.
