While we’re not sure this deal became a reality via his own platform, Opendoor Co-founder and CEO Eric Wu put his real estate connections to good use and landed one of L.A.’s most striking homes in the process.
According to Dirt, Wu has purchased the Drum Residence in Bel Air in an off-market deal for $32.2 million.
Perched on a Bel Air hilltop, the Orum house is a three-level, 18,800 square-foot home designed to seemingly float above the city. The all-glass structure, which takes on the shape of a three-winged propeller, mirrors its sweeping, unobstructed views of the Los Angeles Basin, unobstructed from the Getty Center to Long Beach.
Featuring nine bedrooms and 15 bathrooms, the residence was designed by Zoltan Pali, noted Los Angeles architect known for his avant-garde buildings. Programmatically, the house is split into three levels each consisting of three wings. The ground floor offers communal spaces, while the top floor is dedicated to the home’s bedrooms. The upper southwest and southeast wings of the home hold the master and mini-master suites. Two smaller bedrooms are located within the northern wing.
Amenities include a massage room, a 1,000-bottle wine cellar, a home theater, cedar sauna, motorized sliding doors, a pool, outdoor kitchen and wraparound patios.
Records show the home was at one time listed for $56 million, eventually lowered down to $42 million.
