The intersection that has being synonymous with the Oscars is getting a rebranding—just in time for this weekend’s awards show.
Hollywood & Highland has officially been renamed Ovation Hollywood. According to the L.A. Business Journal, the 20-year-old complex is in the midst of a $100 million redesign to develop the 7.6-acre site into a mixed-use destination for tourists and locals alike.
The redesign includes new art deco styling and enhanced outdoor spaces. Plans also call for 135,000 square feet of retail, 85,000 square feet of dining, 65,000 square feet of entertainment space, 40,000 square feet of event space and 100,000 square feet of creative office space, per the Business Journal.
“Hollywood & Highland’s evolution into Ovation Hollywood is about creating a space that captures the spirit of optimism and the Hollywood dream,” said Chad Cress, chief creative officer at DJM, one half of the property’s owners. “We of course want to pay homage to Los Angeles’ illustrious past here, but also tell a forward-looking story that collaborates with and celebrates the city’s diverse, talented communities.”
Gentler is overseeing the project.
