Two men said to be responsible for a $15 million mortgage fraud scheme have pleaded guilty as an associate remains at large.
Jimmy Phan and Vinh Phan (unrelated) entered their pleas last week, according to the O.C. Register. The two plead guilty to multiple felony counts of grand theft, mortgage fraud, attempting to file a false or forged instrument and admitted sentencing enhancements for aggravated white-collar crime exceeding $500,000. They will be sentenced on January 10, 2022.
Co-defendant Stephen Nguyen remains a fugitive at large.
Prosecutors allege that the three men duped 12 victims with total losses of about $15 million.
