The 240,000 square-foot complex set to replace the current Viper Room on Sunset Boulevard advanced in it’s planning and approval with the release of an environmental study.
Simply known as 8850 Sunset (the current address) would sit 200 feet above Sunset Boulevard in a futuristic building designed by architecture firm Morphosis.
According to Urbanize, the plans call for 115 hotel rooms, 31 market-rate condominiums and 10 affordable housing units. Additionally, the building will include retail and meeting space, as well as a new home for the Viper Room itself. There will also be public green spaces and pedestrian-oriented outdoor dining
Still pending entitlements approval by the city of West Hollywood, the new environmental study includes an update timeline for the project. After a one year delay, the new expected groundbreaking is planned for next year, with construction expected to wrap in 2025.
