One of Southern California’s most beloved Victorian properties has been listed for $24 million, according to the L.A. Times. This marks the first time the home has been on the market in 26 years.
The 134-year-old home dubbed “The Baby Del” was built by Harriett Livingston in 1887, a year before the neighboring Hotel del Coronado. According to the L.A. Times, the property was located in San Diego’s Sherman Heights neighborhood until 1983, when architect Christopher Mortenson moved it by truck and barge to its current spot near the beach in Coronado.
Between the main and three guesthouses, Baby Del boasts eight bedrooms and six-and-a-half baths. The main structure includes 5,200 square feet of living space, 12 foot ceilings, a chef’s kitchen and a “Crown Room,” named after the room in the Hotel del Coronado, and includes 19 doors that open to a wraparound deck.
As if the pure age and history weren’t enough of a selling point, at 55 feet, the estate is the tallest house in Coronado, and one of the largest homes on the peninsula.
Carri Fernandez and Breanna Frazier of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties hold the listing.
